August Electronics works with startups and scaling OEMs on consumer electronics, specializing in low- to mid-volume production without a rigid minimum order quantity. Projects are evaluated on fit, complexity, and growth potential rather than being turned away for falling short of offshore-level volume.
Outsourced components go through the same sourcing controls as everything else August Electronics builds. Parts come from authorized distributors and vetted suppliers within an established network. Each component carries documentation that traces its authenticity back through the chain before it is used in a build.
August Electronics builds compliance requirements into the manufacturing process itself rather than checking for them at the end. On the medical side, ISO 13485:2016 certification covers electronic sub-assemblies for non-implantable devices, with records kept at each production step, allowing a finished assembly’s history to be verified after the fact.
On the defense side, Controlled Goods Program (CGP) certification and Joint Certification Program (JCP) registration cover the handling, storage, and transfer of sensitive defense-related materials and technical data under the applicable regulatory framework.
Requirements vary by project, but most quotes start with a bill of materials, drawings or schematics for the assembly, Gerbers, and dimensional specifications, and any environmental or regulatory conditions the finished product must meet. Partial information doesn’t stop the process.
If you’re still in the early stages, that’s fine. We’re comfortable working from partial specifications and can help you define the exact needs of your project through our DFM and requirements review process before production begins.
No single supplier or region carries the full weight of a project. Working across multiple authorized suppliers, and sourcing locally where it makes sense, keeps a shortage or shutdown in one place from stalling a build elsewhere. Component lifecycles are tracked on an ongoing basis, so a potential shortage surfaces early enough to source an alternative before it becomes a production delay.
BOM management runs as an ongoing service throughout the project. This includes sourcing components, maintaining BOM accuracy, and updating as parts change, get discontinued, or need a substitute partway through a production run. Catching those changes early keeps a scheduled build from stalling over a missing or obsolete part.
