The weather appears cloudy, with trees and a flag marking a hole in the background. At August Electronics, we’re not just leaders in electronics manufacturing — we’re also dedicated to giving back to our community. This past month, we participated in several community initiatives that strengthened our team and supported causes close to our hearts. From children’s mental health to fundraising for cancer research, we’ve been busy making a difference.

Supporting the SAECO 2024 Charity Golf Tournament

On September 11, 2024, August Electronics proudly joined the Southern Alberta Electronics Charity Organization’s (SAECO) annual Charity Golf Tournament. Held at the Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary, the event brought together electronics industry professionals for a day of fun, networking, and, most importantly, charity. As part of our August Electronics community initiatives, this event was a highlight of our year.

This year’s tournament was hosted by none other than Trace St. John, former 660 News Calgary host, whose energy and enthusiasm made the event even more special. The funds raised will support critical mental health initiatives at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (ACHF), providing much-needed resources for children and families affected by mental health challenges. ACHF is dedicated to advancing child health and well-being, including mental health support, through leading-edge care, research, and innovation at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. These funds help children and families affected by mental health issues, giving them the resources they need.

At August Electronics, we felt honored to sponsor this event and contribute to such a vital cause. The incredible support from our industry peers and local businesses made this year’s tournament one of the most successful yet. We can’t wait to participate again next year.

Pie the Managers Fundraiser: Fun for a Good Cause

In an effort to give back while having some fun, we recently held a Pie the Managers fundraiser. Staff members had the chance to throw pies at managers — all for charity, of course! Initially, there was some hesitation, but the event turned out to be a huge success.

The best part? The funds raised went to Parachutes for Pets, a local charity that helps pet owners in financial need. This organization provides food, supplies, and medical care to ensure that no pet is left behind. Many of our employees are pet owners, so this cause really hit home for us.

Parachutes for Pets ensures that pets receive the food, supplies, and medical care they need, thus keeping them with their families during tough times. Moreover, this event not only brought laughter and fun to our workplace, but also allowed us to contribute to a cause that helps animals and strengthens our community. In fact, events like these remind us of the importance of community and laughter. It was a fun way to engage our team while supporting a great cause.

Terry Fox Run 2024: Supporting Cancer Research

Our dedication to giving back doesn’t end there. This month, we also participated in the 2024 Terry Fox Run, which supports cancer research in memory of one of Canada’s most inspiring figures.

On September 15, 2024, August Electronics gathered staff, pets, family, and friends to walk, run, or jog in the name of a cause that affects so many. The Terry Fox Foundation continues the legacy of Terry Fox, who embarked on a cross-country run to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, inspiring millions worldwide. The foundation supports critical research into various forms of cancer, and every year, their events raise millions of dollars that go directly into life-saving research.

The Terry Fox Foundation continues to support vital cancer research each year. By participating in the run, we help raise awareness and funds for the foundation’s work. Our team is proud to play a small part in continuing Terry Fox’s legacy.

Why Giving Back Matters to Us

At August Electronics, success goes beyond our business goals. It’s about the positive change we can create through our community initiatives. We firmly believe that a culture of compassion strengthens our team and leaves a lasting impact on our community. By focusing on causes that matter to us and our employees, we create a meaningful difference.

Continuing Our Mission to Give Back

Our commitment to giving back extends far beyond the day-to-day operations of August Electronics. Through our various community initiatives, we strive to make a meaningful difference in areas like mental health, animal welfare, cancer research, and more. These efforts aren’t just occasional events — they’re part of our company culture.

As we move forward, we’ll continue to seek out opportunities to give back, engage our employees, and support causes that make our community stronger. Stay tuned for more updates on how August Electronics is staying involved and how you can join us in our mission to make a difference.
